To Our Exchange Students

To the graduating exchange students of
the Class of 2008
Congratulations! On September 5,
2007 we welcomed you in our midst, excited to meet foreign cultures, learn and
experience your life styles, and get to know you better.
It is with the
deepest gratitude that we say "Thank you for coming, and letting us have a
chance at learning from you" It is an honor to be an exchange student and
participate in an outstanding program, with an organization which has, for some
45 years, promoted international exchange. It is a privilege to join the ranks
of previous graduates who have gone on to higher education.
Among them
one graduate, who was accepted to the Citadel of South Carolina, which is one
of the finest Military Academies in the country. Your teachers have been
committed to the highest degree to share with you their knowledge and impart
their educational training upon you. Among them a teacher with a Masters
Degree, two with dual Bachelor degrees, one who has additionally graduated from
Drill Sergeant School, and is a former Highway Patrol, as well as a Doctor,
just to mention some. You have made it a memorable year. You have given us
pictures to keep for a life time, and you have left your indelible mark upon
our school, teachers, students, parents and the community.
We now have
pictures in our minds, when we hear someone speak of Cambodia, Hong Kong,
Vietnam, Germany or Holland. We can associate these places with people who
shared ten months of their lives with us. And we recall your recounts of your
home countries. When each of you was asked to share each day about your
country's history, culture, music, food, politics, etc. you stepped up to the
class room front and delivered information with much detail and care. It was
fun to see what would happen when our American students were asked to share
with you about their country's history, culture, music, food, politics, etc.
and so together we built relationships, friendships and experiences, which will
last a life time. And when it was time to raise funds for our Prom and other
activities, we all shared in the work to have a giant yard sale and a Valentine
Spaghetti Fundraiser Dinner. Can you imagine that well over 80 families donated
things, for us to raise the necessary funds to make plans for a wonderful Prom
?
We wish you well. We hope you will remember us fondly and know that
we shared with you our school, our homes, our community and our lives. And even
if we never see each other again, we will always remember you.
God
Bless
