Hello all incoming exchange students,
My name is An Tran
or Jasmine-my American name. I am from Vietnam. I was an exchange student last
year with my host mom-Rose Massey and my host dad-Chester Massey. In this
letter, I would like to share with you my experiences throughout my exchange
year.
Last year was such a wonderful time to me. My host parents are
both very nice to me. They were always taking care of and looking out for me,
even when I am now living far away from them. I experienced a lot of things
that I would not have a chance to do it in my country. I learned how to ride
horses, protect myself via self-defense class or participated in many
activities at school such as the fund raising and the school trip to Florida to
watch the last shuttle launched. I also strongly encourage you guys to be more
involved in the school activities because it will help your applications a lot
later on if you plan to continue your study in the United States. Personally,
these experiences have been very helpful to me in applying for colleges in
America and for on-campus jobs.
Those were some of my typical
experiences as an exchange student I want to share with you guys. I hope you
guys could come here and explore something new like me and other past exchange
students have done. I bet you guys will find something worth pursuing here!
Best wishes, An Tran
To the outside world private
schools are frequently categorized into a division for the privileged. Well, I
am here to tell you that this is a misconception. Give me your attention and I
will briefly describe my son's experience before and after enrolling into
Marion County Private School. Honestly the transition should have taken place
sooner. Instead of enrolling my son into a private school from the beginning,
instead I dismissed the idea. Now looking back at the situation, I realize that
my actions only prolonged my son's learning capabilities; could you blame me?
Money was is a subject we all try to avoid from time to time.
The
school is currently operated by (headmistress) Mrs. Rose Massey. Mrs. Rose
oversees the daily needs at Marion County Private School. Mrs. Rose has proven
to be a headstrong director with a mission that involves commitment towards her
students. Marion County Private School tributes its success to the staff and
family members who offer to take part in volunteering their services. Teachers
employed at Marion County Private School understand that every child needs to
be handled differently, this is no easy process. In time a child with low self
esteem learns to rebuild their communication skills by letting go of the scars
obtained from prior experience. In this case my son would be a prime example.
My son's problems began a couple of weeks after being enrolled in junior high.
At this point my nightmares had started. Frankly, I did not understand why my
son would have problems fitting in at this new school or peers his age. From my
point of view, a child cannot adapt to every demanding rule within the public
system; but what appeared worst in me, are the teacher's attitudes. It is a
shame because they are so quick to label your child or try to belittle your
actions as a parent. Once you reach this stage you are helpless, but what is
worse for a parent who is trying to fight for their kids rights they become
helpless.
After being rejected from two local private schools in the
county, my life felt intense. A relative had referred Mrs. Rose's School.
Without any hesitation she welcomed my son into her school and promised that my
child had the same opportunity to obtain his education. The only problem now
that stood in the way was the school tuition. Mrs. Rose agreed to work out
arrangements that allowed my son to enter school without pressure, but I had to
pay full price once I returned to work several months later. Until this day I
really told her how thankful I was for her patience and understanding. Mrs.
Rose and her staff are not afraid to challenging their students' intelligence.
Before I close this letter I want you to know that angels appear in our lives
to help rebuild when you are weak. In this case Mrs. Rose happens to be my
angel, and there will never be enough thank you for giving my son a chance to
balance the challenges of life, school, and new friendships. As I said earlier
Mrs. Rose's School cares about our children's education, a she is not afraid to
pursue hard work to keep her school at an affordable rate.
A Thankful
Mom
Summer Camp Student
Comments I think that every teacher is really nice and
they teach us really good. They give us an education.
It's not the greatest school in the world,
but it isn't the suckiest either.
I like all of the After School Programs. I
really like that we get new Spelling words to improve our Grade level and have
a chance to study past our Grade level. I like that we get different Math
work.

Student Comments I
like my piano school and I like you. I love to play the piano, just like
you
..I feel good when I play the piano
you are the best
teacher I ever had. Did you know you make me feel good when you say nice things
to me? I love you. Aubyn (9 years old) Mrs. Rose is a
blessing to me. She is a loving person, has patience, is thoughtful and sincere
and shows concern for you to live out your dreams. Playing the piano was what I
wanted to do for a long time. I would say that I believe God sent her to this
community for me. The place where she gives her lessons is bright, well
lighted, warm, convenient, pleasant and comfortable. She is always willing to
help you by making arrangements for you to make up your lessons, if you had to
miss one.The price is right for everyone. Mrs. Quinley (Retired Adult)
Mrs. Rose is a very nice person. She is very
concerned with what you are learning and how you do it. She is the best teacher
for piano, that I have ever known
I am looking forward to working with
her.I also hope that some day I will make her proud to listen to me play.
Mrs. Vonnie (Adult student) Piano class is very fun. I really
like my piano teacher, she is funny and a very good teacher. She does a good
job).I am very anxious for the next time I come. The thing is, I dont
know her name. Kentrell Palmer (new student 11 years old)
The Marion County School of Music, I have found to be a
very exciting place for anyone interested in music lessons. They are well
taught, not boring, no pressure from the instructor. The Instructors here care
about their students, and they want you to progress at your speed not theirs,
so that you can learn what is being taught.I encourage anyone interested to
come and join, you will love it, I promise. Ronald (Adult
student) Top of
